To demonstrate the capabilities of Trojan Lithium™ OnePack™ golf cart batteries, Austin King transported a golf cart equipped with a Trojan Lithium™ OnePack™ battery from his facility in Fort Mill, South Carolina, USA, to Pikes Peak at the end of September 2024. Pikes Peak, located in Colorado Springs, Colorado, USA, stands at 14,115 feet and has been a challenge for climbers, racers, and visitors since its discovery in 1806. The base of Pikes Peak stands at 6515 feet of elevation
Same Location as the Annual Pikes Peak International Hill Climb Competition™
This is the same location as the famous annual Pikes Peak International Hill Climb Competition™. This competition is held every June and involves a variety of vehicles competing to reach the summit as quickly as possible. The Pikes Peak International Hill Climb Competition™ starts part way up the mountain and ends at the peak. Austin started his climb at the base of the mountain below the toll gate and drove his golf cart from the base to the peak. The climb from the base of Pikes Peak to the peak is a longer distance and greater elevation climb than the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb Competition™ which starts part way up the mountain.
The Ultimate Challenge for a Battery Powered Golf Cart
No one had ever driven a golf cart up Pikes Peak before. Austin obtained permission and an event pass from the Pikes Peak Turnpike Authority to drive the golf cart up the mountain after the park closed. The golf cart, weighing 860 pounds plus a 190-pound driver for a total weight of 1050 pounds, successfully climbed the 7,600-foot elevation change from the base to the peak using only one 105aH battery. Proving the Trojan Lithium™ OnePack™ Battery to be the Highest Capacity Golf Cart Battery

The following day, Austin drove the cart up the mountain several more times at different speeds ranging from 18 mph to 30 mph to confirm the cart could make the climb more than once and climb efficiently at different speeds. He used a freshly charged battery for each climb.
Testing Golf Cart Battery Capacity and Reliability
There were questions about whether the Trojan Lithium™ OnePack™ battery would have enough energy to power a golf cart that far and if the thinner air would affect it. The extreme elevation and thinner air provide reduced cooling for the battery, the controller, and the drive motor. It turned out that none of these components exceeded normal temperatures during the climb, and all three worked flawlessly every time. There was a concern about Austin and his associates getting altitude sickness due to spending time above 10,000 feet. No one involved experienced any symptoms of altitude sickness. Everyone had an exciting time being involved with an accomplishment that had never been done before.
